A Scooter Update from Mom

Scooter wants me to say hi to all his blogger friends! He made another trip to the vet today, as he still didn't seem to be feeling up to par since his fever last week. I noticed he still wasn't moving around a lot, and seemed to be having some sort of back or muscle pain. He was hanging out in his favorite hidey-hole a lot, and only coming out for food/water and trips to the litter box.

I finally got so worried about him that I had my husband take him back in for a check-up this morning. The doctor says he isn't 100% sure what is causing the problem, but they're treating it like a strained or pulled muscle. He's obviously not in excrutiating pain, just uncomfortable, particularly when he walks. So the doc gave him a thorough exam, made sure he didn't have any broken bones or anything obvious. Since it's not presenting as something terribly serious at this point, our doctor decided that x-rays weren't necessary just yet. He thinks that Scooter has a pulled muscle and that it would probably have healed on its own without intervention. But since we took him in again, Doc's gonna help Scooter get better even faster by treating him with an anti-inflammatory to help the muscle heal a little quicker.

Since our little pal has been home from the vet, I can already see he's making an improvement. He's walking with a little less stiffness, and has been coming out of his hidey-hole periodically just to check up on his brofurs and his Mom and Dad. He's currently napping and probably dreaming about Squirrel. I'll keep all of you posted on his progress, but we may take a short break from blogging for a few days, just until Scooter recovers. We'll be back by Monday, we promise! Hope you all have a terrific weekend!

  1. Oh my, I sure hope Scooter gets better soon. I'm glad you had him checked out again at the vet and it's good that he's coming out of his hidey hole already. It's scary when our furbabies aren't feeling well since they can't tell us what is wrong. Give him a kiss for me!
